Nigel Farage Claims Teachers of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues

Nigel Farage has asserted that teachers would go on strike shortly after a success at the polls for his party, charging that they are “harming young minds” by instructing students that black pupils are victims and white children oppressors.

During an event for a private US Christian college, Farage outlined his viewpoint on British schools, claiming that the “radical left-wing” had “now in control of our education system”.

“I expect a teachers’ strike soon after winning the next general election,” he remarked during a Q&A session.

“They are corrupting young minds. They instruct children to be ashamed of their country. They are telling an eight-year-old black child that he is oppressed and a white child of the same age that he is a perpetrator. They are dividing us, not uniting us. They promote this harmful mindset.”

In response to these assertions, the head of a major education union dismissed the notion that the schools were under Marxist influence as “absurd”. Kebede noted that any strikes must relate to educators’ working conditions, and questioned whether Reform would attack these immediately upon entering government.

“The politician has crafted his political career on coded rhetoric and currently, like Trump, he is targeting educators and their organizations for a fight,” Kebede stated.

“This is highly reckless. Neither I nor our union – push critical race theory as he claims … Should he become prime minister he would sell out our public services, including education … and he would be a disaster for education and children.”

Reform, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has provided limited specifics on its educational plans and seems not to have designated an education lead.

However, Farage’s remarks suggested the group would reform the educational framework. He said: “We face an enormous task with education – absolutely herculean. Moreover, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, a long-term effort to reform.”

He stated that gen Z was more open to critical thinking, but older youth were “completely lost”.

Paying tribute to Charlie Kirk, he commented: “All I want education to do to foster independent thought – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and they should decide for themselves rather than current practices where one is virtuous and one is evil. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”

Reform has previously clashed with the UK’s largest teaching union, after the union leader labeled them “far right and racist” and described the leader as “a cheap imitation”.

Farage has accused the union head with being “an avowed radical” … someone who is absolutely determined that our children should be poisoned through education, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and maintained that the union is trying to indoctrinate teenagers against Reform.

Roughly a million individuals work in schools in the UK, with educators comprising half and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The leading teachers’ organization has about 450,000 members.

National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 led to significant interruptions in educational institutions and millions of days of lost learning for children.

At the US event, Farage also vowed to promote the online educational material of the institution in the UK. He stated organizations like it were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I mean this. I will help garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of young people to these educational programs. I make that commitment now and I’ll do that.”

The college, a religious educational establishment, provides complimentary classes. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is necessary for personal happiness and to maintain the benefits of freedom. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for no charge to all who wish to learn.”
